Centenarian – A person that has reached the age of 100

Finding a centenarian has been rare. Yet, by 2050, people of 100 or older will be a common occurrence. Today if you talk to many Baby Boomers 60 and older, they will share they don’t plan to retire the way their fathers and grandfathers did. They want to continue to be productive, agile, and sustainable.

Today, age 50 is today’s 30, 60 is today’s 45, 70 is today’s 60. The generations that follow this maturing adult cohort will look at life skills entirely differently.
I will quote author Laura Carstensen because it is rich in thought and content.

“We must first recognize that the unprecedented age diversity in society today is a net positive. The speed, strength, and zest for discovery common in younger people, combined with the emotional intelligence, prosocial tendencies, and wisdom prevalent among older people, create new possibilities for families, communities, and workplaces that haven’t existed before.”
