What Makes Elder Law Attorneys Different from Other Attorneys?

Feb 08, 2022

There’s a phrase that says, “All things are not created equal.”

To quote Gregory S. French, “Elder law attorneys are very different from other attorneys. They define their practice not by the type of legal problems they handle but by the type of persons they help.”

Early on, I met an attorney that shocked me. Why shocked? Because he was willing to set up half-hour appointments with six couples from a Parkinson’s support group at no charge!

I asked him why he had spent the time? He shared, I got into this business to help people, specifically senior people. They are often confused about transitioning into an elder senior, and they don’t know their rights or needs. It’s my job and pleasure to help them.

Since this time, I have worked with many Elder Law attorneys. This same sentiment of caring for the person and not the problem appears to be consistent with them all.
