Hospice is changing the landscape of where people are dying

Jan 13, 2020

If you have worked with hospice in the past, I truly hope it was a good experience for you.

For the first time in a least a half century, home has surpassed the hospital as the leading place to die in the United States.

A new analysis of death data, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that beginning in 2017, the number of people dying at home surpassed the number of people dying in the hospital.

Hospice care is designed to provide pain management, symptom control, psychosocial support, and spiritual care to patients and their families when the illness cannot be cured. The nation’s hospices serve more than 1.5 million people every year and their family caregivers, as well. Thank you to all  hospice caregivers! We appreciate all you do.
